DRIGGS, Idaho — Teton County (Idaho) Fire & Rescue has rescinded the fire restrictions that have been in effect in Teton Valley since July.

According to a Facebook post by Teton County Fire & Rescue, the fire ban’s repeal was due to more favorable conditions, cooler temperatures, occasional showers and shorter days. This went into effect at 12 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8.

On Thursday, Sept. 4, Caribou-Targhee National Forest announced it was rescinding the Stage 1 fire restrictions that had been in effect in eastern Idaho.

Burn permit applications can be found on the Teton County Fire & Rescue website. All permits must be “activated” by calling the Teton County Emergency Dispatch Center — prior to and at the end of each controlled burn — at (208) 776-8200. “Fireworks are not allowed (can’t believe we’re still saying that),” reads the Facebook update, “and remember that you can be held accountable for your fire if it escapes. We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for your patience the last several weeks as we worked through a hot, dry, windy fire season.”
