JACKSON, Wyo. — The hard-working firefighters and paramedics Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Sation 1 have been operating out of a temporary home since June while the permanent station undergoes renovation.
They’re making the most of it, but Teton Rental stepped up to make it a little easier on them. Yesterday afternoon, firefighters gathered at Teton Rental to accept a brand-new Traeger grill, donated to the Jackson Hole Firefighters Association.
Firefighters had been using an old propane grill in their temporary fairgrounds home. It got the job done, but a Traeger opens up a new world of possibilities.
Teton Rental says they donated the grill so firefighters eat healthy, wholesome meals and feel more at home. Firefighters agree.
“It gives us the ability for us to sit down as a fire family and all share a meal together,” said JHFA Vice President Kevin Spence.
It also allows firefighters to give back to the community even beyond the emergency response they provide.
“We want to have a firehouse barbecue when the weather permits,” Spence said.
Teton Rental and JHFA have always had a good relationship. The local retailer is one of the biggest supporters of the Fireman’s Ball, and is known to come through when JHFA needed it. Still, the grill was a total surprise.
“Those guys are definitely supports of the fire department,” Spence said. “We couldn’t be happier to work with those guys and support them in whatever way we can.”
Station 1 hopes to invite the community to a barbecue as soon as the weather allows. Stay tuned for that invite, and always thank a firefighter when you have the chance.
