JACKSON, Wyo. — The National Weather Service’s Riverton, Wyoming, office (NWS) has issued a pair of winter weather alerts for Jackson and the Tetons, in effect from Wednesday night, March 5, until early on Friday, March 7.

Heavy snow is expected in the mountains and the valley Wednesday night, with NWS forecasting accumulations between 8 and 18 inches for the Tetons and between 4 and 8 inches for the valley. Wind gusts could reach 35 mph.

“Travel will be very difficult,” the Tetons’ alert reads. “The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes, especially on Teton Pass. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.”
