MOOSE, WY— Dust off your bikes, roller blades and running shoes! The 14-mile stretch of Teton Park Road between Taggart Lake Trailhead and Signal Mountain Lodge has been cleared of snow and is now open to non-motorized recreational use.
Of course, nature has a mind of her own, so recreationists should be aware of any persisting snow and ice on the roadway. Certain spots may still be slippery. National Park vehicles also occasionally use the road for administrative purposes, so watch out for them, too. Park officials ask that visitors keep a safe distance from rotary plows and other heavy equipment as road crews work to clear auxiliary roads and wayside areas.
Dogs are permitted on the Teton Park Road, and are required to be on a leash no longer than six feet. Of course, owners are required to clean up after their dogs. Waste disposal stations are available at each end of the road.
The road will open to motorized traffic on Tuesday, May 1. Until then, happy recreating!
