JACKSON, Wyo. — Wyoming State Health Officer Dr. Alexia Harrist said she hopes to have an answer soon regarding Teton County’s public mask order yesterday at a press conference with Governor Gordon.
The order was sent to Harrist on Tuesday by Teton County Health Officer Travis Riddel. Before the order can go into effect, it needs to be approved by Harrist at the state level.
“We are now carefully considering Teton County’s order with our team and in collaboration with the attorney general’s office, and we do hope to have an answer very soon, within the next couple of days,” Harrist said.
While considering the order, the health officer is keeping an eye on the rising case numbers throughout the state, with 407 in Wyoming and 23 of those in Teton County.
“We expected to continue to see cases of COVID-19 over time in Wyoming,” Harrist said. “But we are now detecting cases at the highest rate we have seen at any point of this pandemic.”
