JACKSON, Wyo. — On Thursday, Nov. 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Teton Behavioral Health Alliance will host its third annual Soupgiving at Jackson Elementary School’s Commons, where local business and organizations will prepare warm soups to share with the community.
The event aims to counter feelings of loneliness and isolation, especially as the holiday season approaches. According to the 2024 Behavioral Health Community Survey done in Teton County, 45% of respondents reported feeling lonely.
Teton Literacy Center, Jackson Hole Children’s Museum, and Grand Teton National Park Foundation will lead activities and crafts for kids, and there will be live music by Hilary Camino. Jackson Hole Public Art will provide materials for attendees to create a lantern to take home as “a meaningful symbol of hope and connection during the darker months.”
“Soupgiving is about more than sharing a meal—it’s about creating a sense of belonging,” said Kate Schelbe, Backbone Leader of the Teton Behavioral Health Alliance. “We want everyone to know there’s a place for them here. As people leave carrying their lanterns, our hope is that they also carry a little more light, connection, and warmth into the season ahead.”
The event is dry, so no alcohol will be permitted and none will be served. Admission to Soupgiving is free.
Resources will be provided at Soupgiving with information about local behavioral health services and ways to access support.
