Editor’s Note: WYDOT has updated the closure schedule. A previous version of this article stated that Driver Services locations in Jackson and Thayne would reopen on Thursday, Sept. 18; they will actually reopen on Friday, Sept. 19. That change has been reflected below.

JACKSON, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) announced a temporary closure of Driver Services locations in Jackson and Thayne that will happen next week.

Both offices are scheduled to close on Monday, Sept. 15, at 12:30 p.m. and remain closed through Thursday, Sept. 18, for employee training on new software systems. Both offices will reopen on Friday, Sept.19 , with normal business hours.

“We are really conscientious of the potential impact these closures could have on the public,” said Driver Services Program Manager Misty Zimmerman. “We tried to space the closures to folks can still conduct essential business, although some extra travel time may be necessary.”

Wyoming Driver Services maintains Wyoming’s driving records system; tests, issues and processes all classes of driver licenses and identification cards; and administers the process of withdrawing and reinstating driving privileges. The next-closest Driver Services locations are in Pinedale and Dubois.

The agency hopes that the updated software systems will streamline Driver Services operations and allow the public to conduct more Driver Services business online. The changes are expected to go live this fall.
