JACKSON, Wyo. — The Teton County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) shared a warning on its social media channels on Monday, Dec. 30, alerting locals to a phone scammer who has been posing as a TCSO Sheriff to target Teton County residents.
The phone scammer, using the credentials of TCSO Detective Bommer, Badge 218, requests information about a legal matter, according to the TCSO.
“This is a scam,” the TCSO wrote on Facebook. “Hang up. Do not answer any questions. Do not give out any personal information!”
If anyone suspects a fraud event, terminate the communication and file a report with the FBI at IC3.gov. The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is the central hub for reporting cyber-enabled crime.
