JACKSON, Wyo. — On Wednesday, June 4, Teton County Search and Rescue (TCSAR) and Backcountry Zero are offering What’s In Your Pack?, a free workshop to help youth prepare for backcountry adventures this summer.
The workshop is geared for children in grades 3 to 7, and will take place at TCSAR Headquarters on 300 S. Batch Plant Rd. from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Free pizza and beverages will be provided.
According to TCSAR, search and rescue volunteers and local backcountry experts will teach kids river safety, basic first aid and mapping essentials.
“Participants will be divided based on age and move through small stations that empower them with new skills and resources to stay safe in high consequence terrain,” Backcountry Zero wrote on its website. “We hope they leave more empowered to be a leader, make hard decisions and respond if something goes awry during an adventure!”
Participants only need to bring some warm layers for one outdoor station. Parents can register here to reserve their child’s spot and their “rescue ready” goody bag.
