UPDATE – Tannerite Fire is estimated at 500 acres, smokejumpers have been deployed and a Type 3 Incident management team is being ordered for tomorrow.

PINEDALE, WYO – There is a new fire burning south of Pinedale near Boulder Lake. Several campsites and residential areas were evacuated this afternoon. Areas currently under GO stage evacuations are Boulder Lake, Burnt Lake, Meadow Lake, Timico Trail and Boulder Lake Estates. View Current Evacuation Area Map.

Sgt. Travis Bingham told K2 Radio News the fire was caused by one or more people shooting at Tannerite, an exploding target for firearms.

Multiple resources including engines from Sublette County, BLM, and Forest Service, as well as one Type 3 helicopter from Teton Interagency Fire, are actively engaged in fighting this fire. Additional resources are on order.

A shelter has been established at the LDS church in Pinedale for Fire evacuees and displaced livestock may be taken to the Pinedale Rodeo Grounds.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect through 9:00 PM Sunday Night for Uinta County, Sublette County, much of Sweetwater County, and the southern portion of Lincoln County. Low humidity and gusty winds could result in fires spreading quickly and having erratic fire behavior.
