Tannerite Fire, day 3

PINEDALE, WY — The Tannerite Fire continues to burn in critical fire conditions just outside of Pinedale. Firefighters are battling flames in addition to dry, hot, and windy conditions.

Still, progress has been made. No new growth has been reported since yesterday. The fire held within the retardant lines and firefighters focused on holding and securing those lines and knocking down active flare-ups inside containment lines. It’s 20% contained.

Western Wyoming Type 3 Incident Management Team, Jon Ziegler – Incident Commander, assumed control of the fire at 7 a.m. today. An Incident Command Post (ICP) has been set up at the Burnt Lake Elk Feedgrounds.

As of 8 p.m. last night, all roads are open except for the Burnt Lake Road above the Boulder Lake Dam road. The following evacuations have also been lifted:

  • Boulder Lake (County Road 23-125)
  • Boulder Lake Country Estates
  • Boulder Lake Campground
  • Boulder Lake residents off of the Burnt Lake road BLM Road 5106

Residents who do choose to return home are still in the SET stage, and should be prepared to leave again at a moment’s notice.

The Tannerite information line is also no longer active as of 9 a.m. today. For questions about the fire, call the Pinedale US Forest Service Office at 307-367-4326.
