JACKSON, Wyo. — The Animal Adoption Center (AAC) has shifted its annual New Leash on Life summer celebration to a virtual platform due to COVID-19. Scheduled for July 16 at 6:30 p.m., this year’s event will include a short film premiere, raffle, auctions, guest appearances from adoptable animals, and more. The event is FREE to view and can be accessed on their website HERE. “Since this year’s event will be from afar, we are excited to have friends and supporters join us both locally and from across the nation,” said Executive Director, Carrie Boynton. Supporters are also invited to register to bid on auction items, purchase raffle tickets and raise their virtual paddles for the $25,000 Lulu’s Fund Match. All funds raised through the event will directly support the AAC’s rescue, adoption, education, and spay/neuter programs, which positively impact the lives of thousands of animals each year. Since the onset of COVID-19, the AAC has expanded its reach and is working to help animals in overcrowded shelters and rescues in Utah, California, Texas, Arizona, and beyond. “Thanks to our supporters that make our life-saving mission possible, we have had the opportunity to work with shelters nationwide in addition to our longstanding regional partners,” said Jenna Martin, Advancement Director. So far in 2020, the AAC has welcomed 262 cats and dogs into their rescue program. This has resulted in 212 adoptions thus far, which is double the historical average adoption rate. “It is thanks to our amazing community of adopters, volunteers, and donors that we able to reach animals in need. It is a gift beyond compare to be able to give sick, injured, and/or overlooked animals bright futures in our special mountain town,” said Boynton.
