JACKSON, Wyo. – A winter storm has brought the first significant snowfall to the region. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Grand Targhee Resort are both reporting 20” of snow in the last 24 hours. 1-2 more inches is expected through the day.
The Bridger Teton Avalanche Center has issued an avalanche warning of HIGH today at the mid and upper elevations. The report states last night’s intense snowfall has created very dangerous avalanche conditions at the mid and upper elevations. Conditions are now ripe for a serious avalanche accident. On Thursday a skier triggered a small slab avalanche in Thanksgiving Bowl. On Friday another skier triggered a larger slab avalanche in Thanksgiving Bowl.
