JACKSON, Wyo. — You may not be the fastest skier, but this is the one race where you don’t have to be.
There’s still time to register your team for the 11th Annual Pica’s Margarita Cup, brought to you by the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club. The locals’ race league is as much (if not more) about fun as it is about speed. The scoring system gives even novice racers a chance to earn a high score and contribute to the team.
Every week, teams of six get to race on a professional racecourse at Snow King Mountain. Teams can be self-sponsored or find a business to sponsor them. All the businesses-sponsored teams will compete for the series championship title and prizes as well as the business championship title (JHSC calls it the “league within the league”). The business league is a great way for local businesses to compete against one another and promote their business while supporting JHSC’s local student-athletes (100% of the entry fees support the Club).
Skiers and snowboarders are all invited to race. There have even been a few snowbladers in past years.
The races kick off January 27. Of course, Pica’s margaritas and tacos will be served at every race. JHSC also has some big raffle prizes to give away each week. The championship prizes are huge, and if the stakes weren’t already high enough… there’s also a dunk tank.
Self-sponsored teams can register for $500 until January 23. Business-sponsored teams can register for $700 until the same day. After that, registration prices rise 10% until January 27 (starting day), when they’ll go up 15%.
