JACKSON, Wyo. — Last week, START announced the establishment of procedures to ensure safe and reliable service during closures and winter weather affecting Teton Pass.

Morning commutes

If Teton Pass is closed before 9 a.m., Teton Valley (TV) commuter buses will still depart at regularly scheduled times:

  • TV1 will pick up at the Driggs Community Center, proceed to the Victor Depot bus stop and wait there until the Pass opens or service is canceled for the day.
  • TV2 will arrive at the Driggs Community Center at its regularly scheduled time and wait there until the Pass opens or service is canceled for the day.
  • TV3 will be on standby at the Driggs garage at the regular start time until the Pass opens or service is canceled for the day.

If the Pass opens before 9 a.m., buses will continue their regular routes serving all stops to Jackson.

If the Pass remains closed past 9 a.m., all Teton Valley Commuter services will be canceled for the day, including afternoon services back to Driggs. Buses will return to Driggs, dropping off passengers along the way. START Bus will not provide service to Jackson traveling through Swan Valley/Pine Creek Pass in the morning.

Afternoon and evening commutes

If Teton Pass is closed:

  • TV1 will leave at its scheduled departure time and proceed to Stilson Transit Center.
  • TV1 will wait at Stillson until either:
    • The arrival of TV2 at Stilson Transit Center one hour later, or
    • The reopening of the Pass, whichever occurs first

If the Pass reopens, TV1 will proceed on its normal route to Victor.

If the Pass does not reopen prior to the arrival of TV2 at Stilson:

  • TV1 will accept TV2 passengers wishing to transfer and go around through Alpine, Swan Valley/Pine Creek Pass to Teton Valley. TV1 will stop at Albertsons to allow for passengers to use restrooms and purchase snacks.

If the Pass is closed:

  • TV2 will leave at its scheduled departure time and proceed to Stilson Transit Center, so that passengers wanting to transfer to TV1 may do so.
  • TV2 will wait at Stilson until either:
    • The scheduled arrival time of TV3 at Stilson Transit Center one hour later, or
    • The reopening of the Pass, whichever occurs first.

If the Pass reopens, TV2 will proceed on the normal route to Victor.

If the Pass does not reopen prior to the scheduled arrival time of TV3 at Stilson, TV2 will depart and travel to Victor via Alpine, Swan Valley/Pine Creek Pass, stopping at Albertsons for passengers to use restrooms and purchase snacks.

If the Pass is still closed, TV3 will leave at its designated departure time and proceed to Victor via Alpine and Swan Valley/Pine Creek Pass.

If Teton Pass is closed and conditions do not allow for safe travel through Swan Valley/Pine Creek Pass, START might completely cancel afternoon/evening commuter service to Teton Valley. Passengers should be prepared to secure overnight accommodations in Jackson throughout the winter travel season.
