PINEDALE, WY— Is it really summer if you didn’t listen to good foot-stompin’ music while watching the sunset on a long summer night?
Hardly. Cue Pinedale’s Soundcheck Summer Music Series. Soundcheck kicks off Saturday, June 30 at the American Legion Park in downtown Pinedale. The free music starts at 5 p.m.
Colorad0’s In/PLANES will headline Saturday’s show, bringing their unique style of American roots music infused with classic pop sounds — notably late ’50s and ’60s R&B, Doo-Wop and soul. The husband-wife duo Inaiah Lujan and Desirae Garcia create a sound that is hard to pin down but even harder to forget. Tight harmonies, earworm melodies and tasty guitar leads will call to mind music of earlier generations while maintaining relevance and cohesion in the modern world.
But first, Pinedale local alt-country duo The Boom and Bust will open the show. The duo is known for storytelling while diving deep into the roots of the dirty south and untamed west.
The fun continues on America’s favorite holiday, the 4th of July, with more music, fireworks, a free picnic and more!
Americana-soul duo Freddy & Francine will open the show. Their voices are reminiscent of Aretha Franklin and Van Morrison, and their songs blend soul, R&B, folk and Americana with a modern yet timeless sound that appeals to all ages.
Then, Nashville-based duo Sally and George take the main stage. Joel Timmons plays guitar, percussion and vocals, while GRAMMY-nominated Shelby Means plays upright bass and sings. Drawing from their love for the classic duet styles of Johnny Cash and June Carter, Sally and George breathe life and love into the ever-expending world of Americana.
And because it’s the Fourth of July, this particular Soundcheck will coincide with the Town of Pinedale’s free annual 4th of July picnic from 2-4 p.m. Come early for free hot dogs and hamburgers (but please bring a side) and kids games, then stay late for a night of music and Pinedale’s famous fireworks show at sundown.
