JACKSON HOLE, WYO –A community discussion workshop concerning Snow King scheduled for next week has been postponed.
The Town of Jackson announced it will be postponing the second scheduled facilitated community discussion on the future of Snow King Mountain and the surrounding base area encompassing both public and private lands. The two-hour interactive workshop was initially scheduled for Monday, March 12 at the Grand View Room Snow King Hotel. A new date and time for this meeting will be announced in the near future.
Information gathered during the initial community engagement workshop held on Monday, January 22, 2018 has been utilized by a smaller stakeholder working group to develop several potential future scenarios for Snow King Mountain and the surrounding base area. The stakeholder group has been engaged in robust conversations that have offered a variety of ideas surrounding this topic. During the most recent stakeholder meeting it was determined that additional time is needed before presenting these scenarios to the community.
“We understand that preparation is the key to success,” said Tyler Sinclair, joint planning director for the town and county. “Before we present the stakeholder ideas to the community a little extra time and preparation is necessary. We understand there is a sense of urgency for this project; however, before coming back in front of the community we want to make sure that the stakeholder group is able to offer a complete and comprehensive body of work.”
Two additional stakeholder working group meetings have been added to the initial scheduled meetings to ensure that work is complete before presenting scenarios to the community. A rescheduled community engagement meeting to review these scenarios will be announced in the near future.
