JACKSON, Wyo. — Thanks to a global pandemic, holiday traditions have not been so traditional in 2020, and it’s looking like the same case for Jackson’s winter holiday season.
The annual Citizens’ Torchlight Parade at Snow King Mountain Resort (SKMR) has been canceled this year due to a statewide public health order prohibiting large events, but that doesn’t mean all celebrations are off. Fireworks are set to light up the sky over the town hill at 7:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
“You are welcome to enjoy them socially distant from anywhere in the Town of Jackson, in your car, or at the base of the mountain as long as you are spread out and socially distanced from other groups,” SKMR said in a holiday update. “We look forward to our best torchlight parade ever in 2021, which we hope to celebrate with a ride in our new gondola.”

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will also hold a firework show on Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. They ask that you view the fireworks from your vehicle or home, and not to tailgate or gather in groups.
Grand Targhee Resort is still having a torchlight parade at around 5:45 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. There will also be a kid’s glowstick parade at around 4:30, which is for kids between 5 and 12 who possess basic turning and stopping skills. Targhee says that fireworks will immediately follow after the adult parade.
