JACKSON, Wyo. — The new Snow King Mountain Observatory and Planetarium (SKOP) is open for the first winter season for both day and night experiences. The activity is perfect for families, stargazers of all ages and people looking for indoor activities on a cold day.

During the day, catch an engaging show or star talk in the 8-meter planetarium dome, learn about Earth and solar science through the “Science on the Sphere” exhibit, and explore a variety of hands-on displays. There are three planetarium shows daily and a rotating series of talks in the classroom and with the solar telescope. Whether visiting for an hour or spending the whole afternoon learning, SKOP’s expert staff will be on hand to guide visitors and answer questions. Daytime access is only $20 with a season pass, ski ticket or purchase of a scenic gondola ride.

Experience the magic of the night sky with night experience programs. Night programs are offered Thursday through Monday nights from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the winter. Advanced reservations are highly recommended, as sessions fill up quickly and space is limited. This three-hour program includes the potential for stargazing though a 1-meter research class telescope, planetarium shows, classroom talks and more. Regardless of the weather, expect an amazing experience.

Plan a visit today! SKOP welcomes daytime visitors from noon to 4 p.m., with evening sessions providing an unforgettable stargazing adventure. Check SKOP’s website for the latest schedule updates and availability. Don’t miss the chance to explore the cosmos this winter at the Snow King Observatory and Planetarium!
