Snow King delays winter opening

JACKSON, Wyo. — Once again, Old Man Winter has said “not yet” to this ski season.

Snow King Mountain will open for limited winter operations Saturday, November 30. Cougar Lift will open to the public December 7.

The magic carpet for beginner skiers will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with lessons and rentals available at Snow King Mountain Sports. In addition, King Tubes Snow Tube park will be open from 11 a.m – 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, then weekends only until December 14.

Due to warm temperatures that have delayed snowmaking in November, the Cougar lift will open to the public on Saturday December 7, followed by the Rafferty and Summit lifts soon as conditions permit. Conditions permitting, limited operations for the Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club may commence prior to December 7.

“While we had a great start to snowmaking in late October, the first three weeks of November were better for biking and hiking than snowmaking,” says Vice-President of Snow King Mountain Resort Ryan Stanley. “Colder temps and snow are on the horizon, and we will be opening up the hill as soon as conditions permit. We are looking forward to a great season on the King.”
