WILSON, Wyo. — On Tuesday, April 15, Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer captured construction crews hard at work paving the new deck on the Snake River Bridge.

According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT), a loader and concrete truck have started phase one of applying concrete to the bridge’s deck. A second phase will complete the remaining portion of the deck in June. Crews will also be adding an epoxy overlay to the bridge.

“Crews are continuing to work hard in order to hit the last major milestone in the project — pouring the other half of the new bridge deck — by the end of June,” WYDOT said via press release.

WYDOT wrote in its project update that the new Snake River Bridge will be four-lanes with a new pedestrian underpass west of the river. Because the WY 22/390 intersection is located very close to the bridge, it will be reconfigured to improve traffic flow. To improve safety, the project also includes installation of four wildlife crossings, as well as wildlife fencing, wildlife jump outs and cattle guards.

WYDOT estimates that the full bridge with two lanes in each direction will be fully open to traffic in July.
