According to a Facebook post by GTNP, Project Healing Waters aims to foster physical and emotional recovery of military veterans through fly fishing, mentorship and friendship in the outdoors.

Members of the group received lifetime America the Beautiful federal recreation passes from GTNP. Park staff also led a bear safety discussion, before participants took to the river to cast their lines.
