JACKSON, Wyo. — The American Legion Post No. 43 held its annual Memorial Day gathering on Jackson’s Town Square on Monday, May 26.

The yearly celebration unfolded in Town Square’s George Washington Memorial Park, home to the Teton County War Memorial, dedicated in memory of the Teton County’s veterans.

Learn more about the origins of Memorial Day here. The holiday dates back to 1868, three years after the Civil War ended, and was called Decoration Day as the nation decorated the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers.
