JACKSON, Wyo. — Humans aren’t the only ones dealing with pervasive wildfire smoke from the Pack Trail Fire.

Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer ventured into the smoke to capture these striking photos, where he spotted moose moving around amid the hazy conditions.

Overnight temperature inversions — in which colder and heavier air sinks into the valley and gets stuck there until heat from the sun evens things out — have been trapping Pack Trail Fire smoke in Jackson Hole this week, resulting in hazardous air quality at times.

Local moose, we wish you luck in navigating the smoky air. Humans can take these steps to mitigate the health effects of wildfire smoke.
