TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — The ski runs off of the Apres Vous lift at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) are being prepped with new snow for the winter season.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13, Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer captured the new snow glistening in contrast to the browns and greens on the fall-looking ski hill.

As of Nov. 6, JHMR reported 15 inches of snow on the summit and the accumulation of nine inches mid-mountain. According to JHMR, the snowmaking team is making a solid snow base on St. John’s and Werner ski runs. Resort staff are also getting ready for opening day on Friday, Nov. 29.

“Our snowmaking systems are hard at work as we prepare for the upcoming season,” JHMR Director of Communications and Content Eric Seymour told Buckrail. “The Sublette lift is ready to open as soon as conditions allow, and we’re looking forward to welcoming skiers and riders back to JHMR the day after Thanksgiving. It’s an exciting time, and we’re focused on getting everything ready for another great winter.”

The new high-speed quad will move more quickly than the original, taking just four minutes to ascend the lift’s nearly 1,600’ vertical route, according to JHMR. Additionally, the chair will now move in a clockwise rotation instead of counter-clockwise rotation, allowing the ascending chairs to sit lower in the air on the downhill side of the slope. A larger top terminal will be about 38 feet lower than its original location, and the towers will not be as tall to help with wind stability.
