TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — On Saturday, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) opened The Tram, Bridger Gondola, Sublette Lift and Marmot Lift for the season.
The tram line began filling up about three hours before opening, with dedicated skiers and riders vying for first tracks on Rendezvous Bowl and Sublette Lift. With the new Thunder Lift not yet operational, those who opted for The Tram line were the only ones with access to Sublette. The new Thunder Lift is set to open Dec. 10, according to JHMR.
Last winter The Tram didn’t open until Dec. 20 due to low early-season snow levels. JHMR has reported 148″ of snow this season so far.
Bridger Gondola welcomed its’s first riders just after 9 a.m. The corral began filling around 8:30 a.m. and after the initial push, it was walk-on Gondolas for the rest of the day. None of the lifts across the mountain seemed to have a line as the day progressed.
Temperatures at the base were subzero but the day gave way to an inversion, with sunny skies and warmer weather up high. The inversion seemed to creep lower as the day went on.
