SNAPPED: Owl plunges into snow for lunch Great grey owl Birds Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – What a thrilling sequence of photos by Irene F. Greenberg showing a Great Gray Owl plunging into snow for a bite to eat. The first photo shows a mess of a situation but this bird knows exactly what it’s doing. In the second shot, the owl works patiently to extract its prize. In the final photo, the owl has its lunch—a vole—in beak.

Greenberg submitted the photo series to the Teton Raptor Center where they know a thing or two about birds of prey.
