JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The shootout gang is rough and tough and … tender? Cowboys sure have a soft spot for their sweethearts.

Last weekend’s 6pm gunplay reenactment on the town square went off-script Saturday night when feature player Jacob Khalil seized a woman from the audience to use as a hostage during a ferocious gunfight.

Jacob then suddenly holstered his six-shooter and announced, “As an actor I try to never break character…but I have to make an exception today.”

After singing a song to his hostage (we later learn is Victoria), Jacob popped the question. The crowd “oohed.”

She said yes, and the crowd “aahed,” and the Shootout on the town square has a new first—a live marriage proposal—to be added to the annals of hangings, stagecoach robberies, and knife fights through the many decades.

Way to go, Jacob. Good sport, Victoria. All the best to you both!
