JACKSON, Wyo. — It’s all happening on the hill this week.
Snow King Mountain has officially opened its new summit beginner zone, complete with a magic carpet and grinning groms. The beginner teaching zone was constructed this summer along with a new easy way down ski route from the summit to the base.
Tomorrow, the local hill will open its sunnyside lift to service new terrain on the backside of the mountain.
“We got delayed opening the Sunnyside lift today, but it will be open tomorrow morning for some turns in the sun!,” said SK general Manager Ryan Stanley.
This summer, Snow King Mountain installed a fixed-grip triple chairlift on the backside of the mountain and relocated Cougar lift 500 feet uphill to make way for the gondola. A new snowmaking pipe and fixed tower snowmaking guns have been installed on the back bowl and summit ridge to cover terrain accessed by the new Sunnyside lift.
