JACKSON, Wyo. — The cool hues of winter provide a great opportunity for a pop of color to make a splash on the landscape, as is the case for the brand-new Astoria Bridge.

The bright red bridge was christened on Wednesday, Nov. 27, by the Snake River Sporting Club team and more. A pair of horses led a wagon over the bridge for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting festivities.

The new bridge is positioned alongside the iconic old bridge, which served as the gateway to the Astoria Park Conservancy and Snake River Sporting Club. According to the Snake River Sporting Club Improvement and Service District, sections of the old bridge were well over a century old, and the single-lane bridge had been damaged beyond repair. The old bridge is in the process of being removed.

The new two-lane bridge, estimated to be 28 feet wide and 375 feet long, is fully open to traffic.
