JACKSON, Wyo. — Humans aren’t the only ones enjoying the spring sunshine.

Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer spotted this trio of grizzly bears meandering around in the sun over the weekend.

Bears are emerging from their winter slumber as temperatures rise and snow melts. Grizzly bears and black bears have been spotted across the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem this spring.

Remember to give bears plenty of space, just like Sulzer did. Use a spotting scope, binoculars or a telephoto lens to maintain at least 100 yards of distance while bear-watching.

As the nicer weather draws more and more recreationists into bear territory, revisit these tips for sharing the outdoors with ursine neighbors.
