JACKSON, Wyo. — Coveted are the community garden plots in May Park, Blair Place, and — as of this year — on the Moose-Wilson Road at the new Mad Dog garden. According to Slow Food in the Tetons, the organization that manages the Community Garden program, the expected wait time for a plot is two to three years.

Gardeners spend the summer tending 10-by-10-foot plots in each of the community garden locations. Volunteers attend two mandatory work days per season to keep the community spaces well-maintained.

The growing season in Wyoming is quite short, but gardeners still manage to nurture lush green spaces to life in the two to three frostless months in Jackson. Slow Food also hosts community potlucks for gardeners and their families to bring together growers over farm-to-fork meals.
