WILSON, Wyo. — Summer has officially arrived!

The community showed up to celebrate the longest day of the year at Rendezvous Park (R Park) on June 20. Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer was on hand to document the astronomical event, when the Earth’s North Pole is tilted closest to the sun.

The Jackson Hole Land Trust’s annual R Park Solstice Celebration featured nonprofit booths by Wyoming Stargazing, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Snake River Fund, JH Public Art, Teton Adaptive and Teton County Weed and Pest, providing opportunities for attendees to engage with nature, science, recreation and conservation.

Many community members rode their bikes to the event to enjoy the sunny skies, live music and free food. Families had the opportunity to practice their paddling skills during the kayak and paddleboard demos on the park’s lagoon.

The long days will now slowly get shorter and shorter until the Winter Solstice arrives on December 21.
