JACKSON, Wyo. — Local megafauna are taking advantage of low snow levels on the valley floor this winter.

Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer glimpsed a pair of bison grazing near Grand Teton National Park over the weekend.

According to the National Park Service, bison typically survive winter food availability “by using their powerful heads and humps to sweep aside snow (sometimes up to 4 feet deep) to uncover buried grasses and sedges.”
