JACKSON, Wyo. — Good news from Snake River Sporting Club!
The new Astoria Bridge appears to be on track for completion in December, ahead of its originally scheduled spring 2025 opening, thanks to a hardworking construction team.
The Astoria Bridge is owned by the Snake River Sporting Club Improvement and Service District (ISD), whose members are part of the private development. The Snake River Sporting Club ISD has replaced the existing, damaged bridge with a new two-lane bridge, about 28 ft wide and 375 ft long.
The original bridge was well beyond its useful life, with sections aged over 120 years old and a single lane. It had been damaged beyond repair by December 2022.
The new bridge has two lanes, no height restrictions and a weight rating allowing all legal highway/interstate roads. It adds dramatically improved safety, capacity, redundancy and value to stakeholders and owners. ISD successfully raised $17 million in municipal bond offerings to pay for bridge, funded by landowners, club members and Astoria Park. No Teton County funds or Wyoming Department of Transportation funds were made available to ISD; the Snake River Sporting Club community is paying for all costs.
Final landscaping and aslphalt work on the new bridge project are slated for completion in spring 2025; removal of the old bridge will begin this winter. Stay tuned for information about a ribbon-cutting ceremony and final opening details to be announced in the coming weeks.
