Snake River Fund hosts hundreds of young participants in on-water educational programs every year.

JACKSON, Wyo. — 2024 was a record setting year for Snake River Fund (SRF) programs where over 500 participants took part in our on-water programming. Each year, SRF programming continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of our community.

The Snake River Fund is once again gearing up for another jam-packed year full of several on-water educational programs, stewardship projects, events and campaigns – get ready to mark your calendars!

As part of their commitment to promoting access to the watershed, the Fund will be partnering with Teton County Parks and Recreation to plow select boat ramps on the Snake in mid-March, allowing the river community a first chance to float and paddle the river.  Be on the lookout for a call for donations to the River Access Campaign 2025 in the next month if you would like to contribute.

Of course, not long after the ramps are cleared, the Fund hits the water with early season boaters and community stewards to conduct their annual Spring Sweep, which is slated to be held on April 19th. Over the last two years, this effort has successfully removed over 2,000 lbs of trash from the South Park to Pritcharch corridor.

Snake River Fund will be hosting the 4th annual Snake River Fest from June 6 through June 8. This event celebrates our shared watershed with friendly river competitions, a Friends Float, music, food trucks and a fun and informative festival village. Over the years, Snake River Fest has grown into one of the most impactful river celebrations in the Rocky Mountain region.

Starting in late May, the SRF begins its on-water programming with a focus on local students and financially under-resourced members of the community. These educational floats introduce participants to the Snake River’s natural history, ecology and hydrology. All of these programs and events are only possible because of our amazing partnerships with other community non-profits, business owners, agencies, and the support of folks like you! Snake River Fund’s educational programs run until the month of September.

SRF’s On-Water Safety Campaign 2025 begins in July with community outreach at various boat ramps and public notifications regarding river safety, etiquette and proper attire. As part of this effort promoting safety, Snake River Fund will also be hosting its women’s swift water rescue certification, which provides scholarships for 12 participants. We will send out a call for applications in early summer.  In 2024, we had 36 applicants to this program. If you would like to support this programming effort to get more women certified, please donate to SRF at www.snakeriverfund.org/donate

Snake River Fund is at the forefront of conservation efforts in the watershed. In 2025, we will once again be funding the sole water quality monitoring station on the Wild and Scenic Hoback River.  We do this in partnership with the US Geological Survey and Teton Conservation District. Our monitoring efforts on the watershed allow recreationalists to follow best practices when angling, inform whitewater pursuits, and help build the library of water quality and quantity data for stewardship efforts into the future.

The Snake River Fund is dedicated to promoting stewardship of and recreational access to the Snake River Watershed with an emphasis on partnerships, education and public outreach. To learn more, visit www.snakeriverfund.org. You can contribute to our work HERE.
