JACKSON, Wyo. — Snake River Fest, a holistic celebration of Northwest Wyoming’s rivers and river people, gets underway on Tuesday, June 4.

Hosted by Snake River Fund and Jackson Hole Kayak Club, this week-long festival features films, river running competitions, community floats, educational programs, live music and more.

“This is the event we look forward to most each year” says Orion Hatch, executive director of Snake River Fund, “The entire community rallies to this festival, to celebrate a watershed that means so much to us all. And thanks to our sponsors, most of the week’s events are free and accessible to all.”

The celebration is community wide with a number of supporting businesses hosting events. The Kickoff Party takes place on June 4 with the National Paddling Film Festival at StillWest Taproom from 5 p.m. until close. On June 5, Rendezvous River Sports will host Guide Night, where river running enthusiasts can enjoy a shop cookout and huge gear sale. The same evening, Westbank Anglers will host Local Fly Shop Night with cold beverages, information about local waters, and 50% off flies. Both take place from 5 to 7 p.m.

On-water events include a free Friends Float at 4 p.m. from South Park to Astoria followed by a soak session at Astoria Hot Springs with Snake River Fund and Jackson Hole Kayak Club staff and board members on June 6. Participants are encouraged to bring their own watercraft. There will be limited spots on hosts rafts.

The Big Race on the Hoback (including award ceremony and onsite all-night after party with live music and DJ) will start at 6:30 p.m. sharp on June 7 . The heart-pounding action of the Greys River Boater X gets underway at 12 p.m. sharp on June 9 . Festival Village, the flagship event of Snake River Fest, takes place at Jackson Hole Land Trust’s R Park on Saturday, June 8 from 3 p.m. to sundown and will include food trucks, beer tents, interactive booths and youth programs. Live music includes the Balsamroot Band and the Deadlocks.
