WILSON, Wyo. — Expect shifting traffic lanes on and around the Snake River Bridge over the next two weeks as Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and Ames Construction crews reach the project’s final construction stage.
The agency announced on Thursday that traffic patterns will start changing on Friday, June 13, to allow crews to finish paving the bridge deck. Traffic patterns are likely to change “every few days, but will be clearly marked with traffic control and signs,” WYDOT stated.
“We do not expect substantial delays, but it will be different from what drivers are used to,” WYDOT Resident Engineer Bob Hammond said in the announcement. “This alone causes congestion because people are familiar with one traffic pattern and it will be changed. We are coming to the end of the project and ask the public to bear with us for a few more weeks while we complete various work on the bridge and intersection.”
WYDOT expects full lanes to be open on the bridge and at the WY22/WY390 intersection by the end of June. Epoxy overlay work on the bridge deck is currently scheduled for July 7 to July 14, which would necessitate lane closures that week. Stay tuned for timeline updates.
