JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Just days before packing his skis for Las Lenas, Argentina this weekend, big mountain skier Owen Leeper skied in the Tetons Tuesday. In August. In summer. On a day the wildland fire danger in the park was rated as ‘very high.’

Monday’s all-day soaker dropped more than a foot of snow above at higher elevations so Leeper humped 6,000 vertical feet to find a stash on the Middle Teton.

“Ski cut a small slide in the middle but otherwise great snow!” Leeper said on Instagram. “Too bad it was a 6-mile, 6,000-vert hike that took 4.5 hours up, otherwise I’d go back today.”
