VICTOR, Idaho — “Truly, the best band you will see this fall,” the Knotty Pine posted on their Facebook page, sharing news of Sicard Hollow’s return. Pushing the boundaries of patchouli-dunked jamgrass with a skate-and-destroy ethos, Nashville psychedelic grass rockers, Sicard Hollow, will play the longstanding Victor establishment this Friday.

The progressive quartet called the Knotty Pine one of their “favorite (tour) stops last year.” They’ve let it be known that, as musicians, they live far outside the industry machine that their hometown of Nashville has long been. Instead, they bring non-bluegrass backgrounds into an improvisation-spirited acoustic format full of self-discovery since forming in 2018. Heavily influenced by the Grateful Dead and New Grass Revival, this is a string band music that lives closer in relation to modern Colorado jamgrass scene than any high and lonesome sounds of The South. The lineup includes Matt Rennick (violin), Will Herrin (mandolin/vocals), Alex King (guitar/vocals), and slap-centric funky bluegrass bass courtesy of Parrish Gabriel.

Sicard Hollow’s latest single, “Passing of Time,” is a hard-driving bluegrass number depicting two rowdy friends growing apart through hard times.

Sicard Hollow, 10 p.m. Friday at the Knotty Pine in Victor. $15. KnottyPineSupperClub.com.
