JACKSON, Wyo. — Happy Star Wars day!
The unofficial holiday is celebrated annually on May 4 by fans of the films across the world. Two local agencies got in on the fun with Star Wars-themed safety messaging.

“May the 4th be with you!,” the Teton County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook. “In a galaxy not so far away (Teton County), our deputies are on high alert looking for impaired drivers… and yes they have a very particular set of skills. So tonight, don’t go over to the dark side because driving under the influence is NOT the way. Instead: use a designated driver, call a ride, reserve a room somewhere within walking distance. Drive sober. Stay safe. Protect the galaxy (and Teton County).”
Similarly, the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) generated an image of a Millennium Falcon-styled snow plow, shared to social media.

“It will feel like the Planet Hoth out there!” WYDOT posted. “Plowing snow, we will be, with our intergalactic snow clearance team!”
WYDOT also signal-boosted the Wyoming Seatbelt Coalition’s post, which riffs on the classic Darth Vader line, “I find your lack of faith disturbing.“

“Buckle up for life, Wyoming!” the coalition posted along with the image on social media.
Yellowstone National Park’s social media team also got creative with the theme, riffing on an awesome moonset photo with a reference to Obi-Wan Kenobi’s line about the Death Star: “That’s no moon.”
Jackson Hole’s galactic connections don’t end there — Han Solo himself calls the valley home.
