JACKSON, Wyo. — The seasonal dog park at the Teton County Fairgrounds is open for the season as of Nov. 1.
The chain-linked fence enclosure is the only public area in town where dogs are permitted off-leash. In January the Jackson Town Council approved designs for a 0.15 acre dog park on the west side of Miller Park. Over the years, dog parks have been proposed at May Park and Powderhorn Park but were either paused or not approved. Currently, dogs are prohibited from all town parks.
“Per Town Ordinance 7.05, pets must always be under leash or verbal control within the Town of Jackson,” the Teton County/Jackson Parks & Recreation Department said. “Dogs are not allowed in any Town Parks and are only allowed on pathways when physically leashed.”
The seasonal dog park is open until May 1, 2024, weather-dependent.
PAWS of Jackson Hole supplies “mutt mitts” and handles refuse collection for proper disposal at the seasonal park.
