WILSON, Wyo. — On Sunday, Teton County Search and Rescue (TCSAR) volunteers responded to a pair of missing skiers on Teton Pass.

According to TCSAR, the pair, a father and son, had left at 8 a.m. and were supposed to return by 2 p.m.

When they missed their exit time they called home to Driggs, Idaho, and said they had gotten lost while skiing the back slopes of the south side of the Pass. The wife then alerted authorities which dispatched TCSAR. The missing skiers’ vehicle was then located at the top of the Pass.

“TCSAR responded with a team in the RZR, two ski teams, and the helicopter, which was aided by extra sunshine due to daylight saving time. The teams headed into the Mosquito Creek area, known as the “Black Hole” due to its tendency to confuse and disorient backcountry users over the years.

As the helicopter searched the area, the skiers were found, uninjured, at 6:55 p.m.

“The ship landed and volunteers loaded the two skiers inside, and flew them to the TCSAR hangar where they were reunited with family,” said TCSAR.
