TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — March madness has arrived with deep snow and weekly live music under the tram at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort leading up to Rendezvous Fest (April 5-6). The last three shows billed as “Road to Rendezvous,” bring veteran electronic duo GoldFish (March 9), Montana rockers STiLGONE (March 16), and soul-jazz/hip-hop septet LowDown Brass Band (March 23). All concerts are free, all-ages, and begin at 3 p.m. on the tram stage. Spring on!
March 9 – GoldFish
Electronic dance music (EDM) has become one of the world’s biggest genres, but when South African duo GoldFish launched from their South African home in the early 2000’s, they were swimming against the current. Dominic Peters (keyboards, bass, production) and David Poole (sax, flute, production) met in college where they studied jazz. They began incorporating African beats with upbeat electronic production and live instrumentation. The duo is now based in San Diego and carries a reputation of high-energy sets.
March 16 – STiLGONE
Funk, soul, hip-hop, reggae, and psychedelic rock are flowing from Bozeman-based STiLGONE. A more neo-soul centered version of STiLGONE was founded in 2016, but disbanded before lockdowns for COVID-19 in 2020. The band found new life in 2021, reviving the band for a gathering at the Filling Station in Bozeman to honor a local musician who had died days earlier. These days, the five-piece gets by on eclecticism, camaraderie and the band’s uniform of choice—a bolo tie plus whatever outfit they want.
March 23 – LowDown Brass Band
This seven-piece is no stranger to throw-downs in Teton Village. Embodying the vibrant Chicago music culture, LowDown Brass Band is a one-of-a-kind horn ensemble weaving the rhythm of the streets with conscious hip-hop, reggae and soul. Rigorously touring, LowDown has performed on the unique stages, from the Montreal Jazz Fest to the Cotai Jazz Fest and Concert on the Commons in Teton Village.
