WYOMING — Among the Republican candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives seat is Richard Dodson.
There are 10 candidates running for the position from the Republican party in the upcoming primary election Aug. 18.
Dodson grew up in South Dakota 10 miles from the state line of Wyoming. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he moved to Austin, Texas, where he worked for around 25 years in the technology field with a focus on technology used by organizations serving people experiencing homelessness. Dodson returned to Sundance, Wyoming, in 2021. According to his campaign website, his long-standing interest in government and concerns about corruption and public accountability motivated him to run for the position.

The key issues of his campaign include ensuring affordability for all, promoting competent governance and accountability and investing in ending homelessness.
“Wyoming is a vast state, and while it may be less expensive than other areas, the cost of living still presents significant challenges,” his campaign website states. According to his site, he will advocate for policies that will undo prices changes associated with wars and tariffs that “contribute to economic instability.”
Dodson attended Black Hills State University. He served in the South Dakota Army National Guard and also on the local Board of Education for the Spearfish School District.
“One area where I do agree with my opponents,” Dodson shares in a campaign video, “and probably the only one, is it’s far past time to drain the swamp in Washington, and Washington has never been swampier than it is right now.”
