JACKSON, Wyo. — Renewable diesel is now available at the Shell gas station on Broadway, following a year-long initiative by Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities (YTCC).

The recent deal also brings renewable diesel to two other public gas stations, in Belgrade, Montana, and Nampa, Idaho.

According to YTCC, renewable diesel is produced from renewable resources such as animal fats, vegetable oils and other organic feedstocks. “It is a low-carbon, high-performance fuel that can help reduce the environmental impact of transportation while maintaining the efficiency and increasing reliability demanded by consumers.”

YTCC says renewable diesel reduces greenhouse gas emissions at up to 75% fewer emissions compared to traditional diesel and is compatible with existing diesel engines without modifications.

YTCC is a Jackson-based advocacy group that works to advance alternative fuels, vehicles, infrastructure and transportation in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.
