WYOMING — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) wants to remind residents and nonresidents that applications for moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat and wild bison licenses are due before midnight on April 17.

Applications to submit can be found here. The last day to modify or withdraw applications is also today, April 17.

It’s also possible to apply for a Wyoming Super Tag at the same time. The deadline for the 2024 Super Tag is Jan. 31, 2024.

Draw results will tentatively be available May 4 on the WGFD website.

Hunters should be aware that over the 2017-2022 hunting seasons, bison have been observed to stay within Grand Teton National Park for the majority of the hunting season. Hunting is not allowed in the national park.

The number of mature bull bison in Hunt Area 2 has declined significantly in recent years; although some large bulls remain, Type 1 license holders should expect limited opportunity and availability of very large bulls. In 2022, 41 percent of Type 1 license holders opted to harvest a cow or calf bison.

Hunters should also be aware that Type A mountain goat licenses are intended to keep goat numbers very low in specific hunt Areas, and very few mountain goats are found in Mountain Goat Hunt Area 4 where Type A licenses will be issued. Mountain goats in this hunt area are distributed in very remote, steep mountainous terrain, and hunter success is expected to be very low. No hunters were successful last year.

Most of Hunt Area 4 is within Wilderness and non-resident hunters require an outfitter or a Wyoming resident guide to accompany them, but many outfitters in this area do not offer mountain goat hunts.

For application questions, call the WGFD sportsperson hotline at (307) 777-4600, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
