JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Emergency Management (TCEM) is “encouraging everyone who lives, works or plays in Teton County” to create a Teton_WY Alerts account or to update their existing account before July 4, for a chance to win a home emergency kit.
By enrolling or updating an account, participants could win one of five home emergency preparedness kits valued at over $250. The emergency kits include first aid supplies, an emergency radio, hygiene and sanitation supplies, a solar inflatable lantern, water filtration equipment and more.
Those interested can enter a prize drawing by visiting www.tcincident.org and clicking “Sign Up” to enroll in the free public alerting service. Participants will also receive an entry in the drawing if they click “Update” to log in to an existing Teton_WY Alerts account and ensure that contact information is up-to-date.
According to TCEM, Teton_WY Alerts is one of the primary ways that local officials reach the public with important safety information during an incident.
“Receiving emergency information is the first and most important step in disaster preparedness,” TCEM wrote via press release. “If you don’t know, you can’t act.”
TCEM wrote that registration in the system is free, and users can customize alert preferences. New and existing users should be sure to input one or more addresses in the County where they spend time. A new feature enables alert officials to geo-target messages when appropriate.
