TETON VALLEY, Idaho — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a red flag fire warning in Teton Valley, Idaho, from 1 to 10 p.m., meaning that dry conditions plus high wind will create dangerous fire conditions.

“Hot, dry and breezy conditions will support rapid wildfire spread and potentially long range spotting of embers,” the warning reads. NWS also expects winds “sustained at 20 to 35 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph.”

According to Bruce Mason of Teton County Weather, these warnings are not to be taken lightly.

“Unfortunately, the accuracy of these warnings is very good, they are rarely issued when a fire doesn’t start somewhere in the warned area. Stay tuned,” Mason posted on Facebook.
