JACKSON, Wyo. — The League of Women Voters, Teton County Library and media partners, Jackson Hole News & Guide, Wyofile, KHOL and Buckrail hosted two forums last evening for state House 23 and Teton County Board of County Commissioner candidates.
The forum was conducted in person at the Teton County Library.
The two House 23 candidates, Liz Storer and Paul Vogelheim were first up.
Vogelheim, a self-described moderate republican and Storer a democrat spared over the state’s current trigger ban for abortion, which is currently not in effect and being litigated.
The candidates also discussed their opinions on capping property taxes, the many times failed county optional real estate transfer tax and agreed that the powers of the Secretary of State’s office should remain as is.
The seven County Commissioner candidates, Luther Propst (D), Mark Newcomb (D), Peter Long (R), Kasey Mateosky (R), Tom Segerstrom (R), Brenden F. Cronin (I) and Wes Gardner (D) answered questions from the media sa well as a number of questions from the audience. The candidates all agreed that the 2020 election was not stolen, but shared differing views on if they believe term limits should be implemented for the Board.
The candidates also discussed the future of Northern South Park, their opinions on the SPET ballot items and the future of senior assisted living in the county.
The library will upload video recordings of both forums on their website.
The next forum is House 22, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Old Wilson School House.
